Sagrantino Passito Montioni: the sweet red wine par excellence

 

Montefalco Sagrantino Passito D.O.C.G. is a passito italian wine typical of the Umbria area since it derives only from 100% Sagrantino grapes.
Its sweetness and aroma make it an ideal end of meal that cannot be missing in the personal cellar to be served at the right time after a dinner and a moment of conviviality.

 

How is our Sagrantino Passito DOCG born?

Our Passito comes from the selection of the most intact and healthiest 100% Sagrantino grapes from our highest vineyard (425 meters above sea level) in Montefalco (Umbria) with a totally northern exposure.

Due to these peculiarities, Sagrantino Passito Montioni perceives a freshness and flavor that is almost unique in its kind.

The harvest of the Sagrantino grapes that will give life to this Passito takes place strictly by hand during the first days of October. After the harvesting phase, they are left to dry for about 2 months in small wooden boxes.

From this moment on, the grapes undergo a fermentation process in steel followed by a phase of maturation in 225 liter French oak barrels for a duration of 24 months.

The final phase of refinement will then last 12 months in the bottle.

The Sagrantino Passito DOCG produced by the Montioni Winery in Montefalco is an intense red wine product rich in purple hues; on the nose you can perceive hints of blackberry jam, lavender, cherries in alcohol and dried plums. It tastes delicate and harmonious.

At this point the Sagrantino Passito from the Montioni winery is ready to be served!

Passito Sagrantino: what are the best pairings?

Sagrantino Passito is a sweet wine perfect to be paired with the whole world of dry pâtisserie (dry biscuits, amaretti, baci di dama, canestrelli, mixed shortcrust pastry, meringue, puff pastry ...), with jam tarts and dark chocolate.

While as regards the combinations of Passito Sagrantino with salty, our advice is to try it together with delicious aged cheeses: we assure you an explosion of taste!

 

Sagrantino di Montefalco Passito: the serving temperature

Our advice is to serve, in any case, your Passito Montefalco at an ideal temperature of 16°-18° (61-64° F)
